All Star games here provided lasting memories

When Major League Baseball’s All Star Game comes here in 2015, it will be only the fifth time since the “Mid-summer Classic” began in 1933 at Comiskey Park in and the first time since Great American Ball Park opened in 2003.
 

But those previous four All Star games – two at Crosley Field, two at Riverfront Stadium – are forever a part of the lore of the Cincinnati Reds, the first professional baseball team and an organization with a deep and rich history.

Settlement reached in UC Taser case

The family of a man who died after being tased by a University of Cincinnati police officer has settled its claims with the university and officer Richard Haas.  After Everette Howard Jr. died in August 2011, UC police took all of their Tasers out of service.

CPS pilots after-school arts program

Cincinnati Public Schools is piloting an after-school program featuring the arts.  These high energy sessions can't help but keep the kids attention.


This is just the warm-up for the one-hour arts program at Hughes Center. After school, four days a week with alternating artists, kids get to experience something they may not have. On this day it's the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company and actress Jesse Wray Goodman.

Amy Murray kicks off Cincinnati council campaign

Amy Murray - who served as an appointed Cincinnati City Council member in 2011 before losing her seat in that year's election - has become the first non-incumbent Republican to declare her council candidacy.

Murray, of Hyde Park, will kick off her campaign Wednesday with a 7 p.m. gathering at Price Hill Chili at 4920 Glenway Ave.

She first ran for council in 2009, failing to win one of the nine spots on council. But, in January 2011, after then-council member Chris Monzel became a Hamilton County commissioner, Murray was appointed to his council seat.

I-275 accident investigation could take days

The investigation into Monday's massive pile-up on I-275 continues. A white out is believed to have caused at least 86 vehicles to crash, closing the highway for seven hours.

A 12-year old girl was killed and 20 others were sent to hospitals, some have been released.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil says investigators are reconstructing what happened.

"We're in the process of conducting a full traffic investigation on this and it's going to take days. Even with the number of officers we had out there, it's going to take days to put this report together," he says.
