Stan Chesley resigns from UC board

This is the announcement from the University of Cincinnati Board of Regents:

Statement by C. Francis Barrett, Chair, University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees: Stanley M. Chesley has resigned from the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees, effective immediately. Accordingly, the special meeting of the Board of Trustees scheduled for Thursday, April 18, 2013 has been cancelled. The University is appreciative of Mr. Chesley’s many years of service.

Pamula Thomas joins Cincinnati City Council

Within the span of about five minutes today Cincinnati Council accepted the resignation of one member and witnessed the swearing-in of a replacement.

Cecil Thomas ended his Council service after more than seven years.  He's leaving early because term limits prevent him from seeking re-election in November.  

Thomas’ wife, Pamula, was appointed to take his place and she'll be on the ballot this fall.  

She said she'll strive to represent the city with transparency, fortitude and integrity.

Case delayed for woman accused of voter fraud

The Madisonville Recreation Center poll worker accused of voting twice, and casting ballots for seven other people in possibly three different elections, was not ready to enter a guilty plea on Wednesday.

Melowese Richardson, when interviewed  by WCPO a few months ago, said she didn't do anything wrong.

On Wednesday, before Hamilton County Judge Robert Ruehlman, her attorney said she wasn't ready to issue a plea.

New effort aims to reduce infant death rates

Hamilton County is preparing to launch a county-wide Collaborative on Infant Mortality Rate Reduction.

Participants include: Hamilton County, City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County Public Health, Children's Hospital Medical Center, UC Health, The Christ Hospital, TriHealth, Inc., and Mercy Health Partners of Southwest Ohio.

"It is a significant collaborative of the major healthcare systems in the region all coming together under one umbrella," says Commissioner Todd Portune.

Hamilton County's infant mortality rate well exceeds the national average.

City manager wants more money for streetcar; Council decision not expected Wednesday

Updated 4/17/13:

Cincinnati Council's Budget and Finance committee will hold a public hearing on the streetcar project April 29 at 6 p.m.

"Cincinnatians for Progress" released this statement on the streetcar.
