Jay Hanselman

Reporter and Co-Host of Cincinnati Edition

Jay Hanselman brings more than 10 years experience as a news anchor and reporter to 91.7 WVXU. He came to WVXU from WNKU, where he hosted the local broadcast of All Things Considered.  Hanselman has been recognized for his reporting by the Kentucky AP Broadcasters Association, the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, and the Ohio AP Broadcasters.

Hanselman covers Cincinnati City Hall for WVXU and co-hosts Cincinnati Edition on Thursday afternoons at 1:00 pm.

MLK interchange at 71 remains on fast track

State officials are expected to award a contract to build the new interchange on I-71 at Martin Luther King Drive in April, and construction could begin in July.  

Ohio Department of Transportation officials updated a city council committee Tuesday on the $118 million project.  Assistant Project Manager John Otis said when the work begins contractors will not have a complete set of plans.

Cincinnati property tax revenues to stay steady in 2015

Cincinnati residents should soon be receiving their property tax bills, and already city council is working to set the rate for 2015.  

The city still wants to collect about $29 million in revenue from property taxes for operating expenses, and so the actual tax rate will decrease slightly from this year.  

Vice Mayor David Mann tried to increase operating revenue by a half-million dollars, but his plan was rejected.  He said it is about what resident expect.
