As Kermit the Frog so wisely noted, it's not easy being green, but in NASCAR's case, the stock car racing association is trying to drive more sustainable behavior with two programs that were launched this month.

Both programs aim to capture the carbon produced by on-track activity. 

Kentucky Speedway spokesman Tim Bray says the track in Sparta is taking part in the programs as it has in  previous years.

A group advocating for changes to state and national gun laws rallied on Fountain Square today with several dozen people attending the event, which featured speakers from law enforcement, medicine, politics and faith communities, as well as survivors of gun violence.

"Our purpose today, primarily, is to bring greater attention to the issues related to gun legislation, to call and demand action with regard to gun legislation," said Karen Hillis-Skipper, the event organizer and leader of the Cincinnati chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

The Ohio EPA is holding a public hearing Tuesday night on Rumpke's request to increase the amount of odor neutralizer being used at its Colerain Township site.  The new permit would allow the company to use up to 2,741  gallons of the neutralizer mixed with more than 2.7 million gallons of water monthly. 

The deodorizer is made from essential plant oils, mainly from fruits and vegetables.  It's applied using 200 spray nozzles attached to more than 6,100 feet of hose, 20 industrial fans and mobile spray dispensers

Have you been keeping an eye on the price of gasoline in the last few weeks?  Cheryl Parker with AAA in Cincinnati has been doing just that.

"Yeah, they've declined," she said.  "For the first time in ten years we've seen a decline in gas prices in the month of March.  It's very unusual."

Definitely not the norm for this time of year

Gas prices usually start heading up in the spring, but they decreased last month and now average about 30 cents per gallon less than a year ago.
