News Director and Morning Edition Host, Host of Cincinnati Edition

In 2005, Maryanne Zeleznik came to 91.7 WVXU from WNKU where she served as News and Public Affairs Director for 20 years. At WVXU she is responsible for all news and public affairs programming, covers daily news, produces local features, regularly contributes news stories to National Public Radio, and hosts Morning Edition Monday through Friday, and Cincinnati Edition on Tuesday afternoons at 1:00 pm.

Zeleznik has won numerous regional and national journalism awards including the Leo C. Lee Award for significant contributions to public radio news from the Public Radio News Directors Incorporated, as well as awards from Ohio Associated Press, Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, and the Cincinnati Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Funding for Purple People Bridge Entertainment Complex

Kentucky's Lieutenant governor will be in Northern Kentucky on the Purple People Bridge this morning to present a check to help developers proceed with a 100-million dollar entertainment complex.



A release from Representative Dennis Keene says the 650-thousand dollars from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will fund an engineering study that will determine if the historic pedestrian bridge can support the project. The Newport Southbank Bridge company is currently in talks with three developers interested in the project.

Roebling Suspension Bridge gets Temporary Weight Limit

The Roebling Suspension Bridge has a temporary 3- ton limit after a recent inspection showed some deterioration on the span. Chief District Engineer, Rob Hans says additional analysis and repair is needed before the limit can be lifted.


A report from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says passenger vehicles and pedestrians won't be affected, but commuter trolleys will not be allowed on the bridge. The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky has implemented the Southbank Shuttle detour and TANK vehicles are no longer using the Suspension Bridge.
