Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

Tea Party rallies against IRS

Several hundred Tea Party members rallied at noon Tuesday on Fountain Square before marching to the John Weld Peck Federal Building. They held signs and chanted slogans like "you work for us" and "the IRS has got to go."

Dave Kern of Liberty Township says he came to protest the "outrageous actions" of the IRS in the recent scandal involving extra scrutiny of conservative groups applying for 501(c)(4) tax exempt status.

Park District going high-tech; changing name and look

The newly renamed Great Parks of Hamilton County will feature a bird-themed logo.

The Hamilton County Park District is going high-tech to deal with the Emerald Ash Borer.

Park employees are using iPads to track ash trees and assess the situation across the county.

Executive Director Jack Sutton says the data is used to determine which trees should be treated or removed.

Duke Energy using new contractor for gas line inspections

Duke Energy is farming out its gas meter and line inspections. Spokeswoman Sally Thelen says that means someone new could be knocking on your door. She says customers shouldn't be alarmed to see a contractor show up to read and inspect meters.

County & City still at odds over hiring practice

Hamilton County Commissioners still aren't happy with the City of Cincinnati's responsible bidder program for Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) construction projects.

The board is drafting replacement language and, to show he means business, commissioner Chris Monzel is considering a restraining order forcing the city not to award any MSD contracts until the issue is resolved.

The key issue is a clause requiring companies bidding for sewer work to have certified apprenticeship programs with graduates.
