Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

Library to run 10 year levy request

The Cincinnati/Hamilton County Library will ask voters to approve a 10-year levy.

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will ask voters this November to renew its operating levy for ten years rather than the typical five.

The flat, one mill renewal costs the owner of a $100,000 home about $30/year, according to Library Director Kim Fender.

Fender says the library board chose to ask for a ten year renewal for planning purposes.

Clock running on sewer district compromise

City and county officials now have about five weeks to try to work out a compromise on several Metropolitan Sewer District policies (MSD).

Council voted unanimously Wednesday to suspend its local hiring policy until August 1. Until then the sides will try to reach an agreement on it and a portion of a responsible bidder policy that requires apprenticeships.

UC board approves Nippert expansion

The University of Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium will soon be a construction zone.

UC's board has approved the more than $80 million upgrade plan.

Athletic Director Whit Babcock says construction will begin in December and should wrap up in August 2015. The university says it is considering playing its 2014 games at Paul Brown Stadium.

As expected, the board also froze in-state tuition levels for next year.

Preliminary answers on Dayton Air Show crash could come this week

Federal officials investigating Saturday’s plane crash at the Dayton Air Show say it may take up to a year before the cause of the crash can be determined.

An initial coroner’s report say that 44-year-old wing-walker Jane Wicker and the plane’s pilot, 64-year-old Charlie Schwenker, died of blunt force trauma.

The National Transportation Safety Board expects to release an initial report later this week. The NTSB is also requesting anyone with video or pictures of the crash to submit them to air show officials to help with the investigation.

MSD compromise hits roadblock

Just days after announcing a compromise, county and city leaders could be heading back to square one.

Hamilton County Commissioner Chris Monzel had planned to lead a vote Wednesday to reopen the bidding process for Metropolitan Sewer District projects. The board instituted a moratorium several weeks ago when Cincinnati City Council refused to scrap its local hiring and responsible bidder requirements.
