"Beyond Civility" features Sittenfeld and Wilson

A discussion with Democratic Cincinnati council member P.G. Sittenfeld and Cincinnati Tea Party founder Mike Wilson will be featured at the second of four events sponsored by Beyond Civility, an organization that promotes civil discourse between people on both ends of the political spectrum.

The "Side by Side" series with Sittenfeld and Wilson will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Hebrew Union College's Mayerson Hall in University Heights.

The two will talk about their experiences in politics and their beliefs. Sittenfeld was first elected to council in 2011, Wilson has run twice, in 2010 and 2012, as the Republican candidate in the 28th Ohio House District and lost  to Democrat Connie Pillich.

The event is free, but space is limited. Those wishing to attend should RSVP at www.beyondcivility.org/reservations.

Beyond Civility will sponsor two more side-by-side sessions:

One will be on March 12 at Xavier University, featuring former council man and mayor Jerry Springer, a Democrat, and former councilman, mayor and Ohio gubernatorial candidate J. Kenneth Blackwell, a Republican. Springer and Blackwell served together on city council.

On May 20, former city council member Amy Murray, a Republican, and present council member Yvette Simpson, a Democrat and Charter Committee candidate, will meet at WCET.
