Breast Cancer Research
About 1 in 8 women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime, but thanks to earlier detection, increased awareness, and improved treatment, death rates from breast cancer have been declining since about 1989. Dr. Mary Mahoney, director of Breast Imaging at the
University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute and professor in the division of radiology at UC’s College of Medicine, UC Department of Cancer Biology Professor Dr. Susan Waltz, and Director of the Cincinnati Cancer Center and Member of the Breast Cancer and the Environment Research Program (BCERC), Dr. Shuk-mei Ho, share the latest research on the causes and treatment of breast cancer. UC is holding an event November 9 to explore breast cancer issues.
