Mandy Patinkin coming to Music Hall

His presence on stage, screen and television is unmistakable – Sunday in the Park with George on Broadway, The Princess Bride on film, Homeland on television. Mandy Patinkin is multi-talented, but his singing is how he first achieved fame. He will be joining the Cincinnati Pops for three concerts April 19-21, performing songs from his stage career as well as some of his favorite popular standards. Mandy Patinkin is on the phone with our Rick Pender to talk about his career and these upcoming concerts.

Grammy winner Victor Wooten in concert

Grammy winning musician Victor Wooten is bringing his band to The Madison Theatre in Covington on April 19 for a night of some of his newest music. He’s played bass for Bela Fleck, Stanley Clark and Dave Matthews, but this night will be his band, featuring Cincinnati’s own Krystal Peterson on vocals. Krystal is in the studio with Lee Hay to talk about her career and now touring with Victor Wooten.

National Day of Puppetry on April 20

Cincinnati will celebrate National Day of Puppetry on April 20 with shows, crafts and a historical display of puppets from the Cincinnati Area Puppetry Guild at Happen, Inc. in Northside. Terrence Burke, creator of Wump Mucket Puppets, talks with Jim Stump about the current popularity of puppetry on stage and the rich history of puppets and puppeteers here in Cincinnati.

Rosie Carson back to host concert event

For the second year, Cincinnati musician Rosie Carson, who has been touring internationally of late, will come home to host and perform at a fundraiser dedicated to her mother, Sue Carson. Sue lost her battle with cancer, so proceeds from the event, which also features The Graveblankets and Tickled Pink, will benefit Cincinnati’s Cancer Family Care, which provides education and counseling to cancer patients and their families. The concert happens Tuesday, April 16 at the 20th Century Theater. Rosie joins Frank Johnson to talk about this event, her recent travels, and the new CD she and partner Kevin Dempsey will have out in October.

CityLink benefits from upcoming fun run

CityLink, Cincinnati’s one-stop location for a myriad of social and governmental services to assist residents in need, is one of the beneficiaries of this year’s The Rat Race, a 5k and 10k run and walk in around the Loveland Bike Trail. Barbara Gray welcomes in Megan Busch and Dani Watkins from CityLink to not only talk about the run, but about the work of CityLink and how the integration of services is helping some our poorest neighbors.
