The Blues: 3/1/14 - Mardi Gras Celebration!

We're heading down to New Orleans this week to celebrate the Mardi Gras season.  The show will begin with the Marcus Roberts Trio and then continue with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Professor Longhair, and Dr. John.  Dr. John will be headlining the French Quarter Festival running April 10th through the 13th.  The festival features 1400 Louisiana musicians on 21 stages during the 4-day festival, and it's all free!

The Blues: 2/11/14 show

Lots of favorites in this show including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Delbert McClinton and Bonnie Raitt.  There's a song by Cincinnati favorite Lonnie Mack and New Orleans legend Johnny Adams.  You'll also hear a song from Ry Cooder's "Chicken Skin Music" album which was a personal favorite back in the day.  And, we'll round out the show with "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" by Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton.

Blues with Lee Hay: 2/15/14

On the Blues show, Saturday night, February 15th at 11pm, you’ll hear some legendary musicians like Albert King, Etta James, and Bob Dylan.  The show begins with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and vocalist Noah Hunt who’ll be in Louisville on Tuesday, March 18th for a one-night show.  There’s also a song by Anders Osborne who’s part of the Southern Soul Assembly Tour coming to the Taft Theatre downtown on Wednesday, March 19th.

Local legend Rusty York passes away

According to a touching article written by Cliff Radel for the Cincinnati Enquirer, Rusty York, who owned Jewel Studio in Mt. Healthy, passed away recently in Florida.  You'll find some great photographs on his page in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame
