Lots and lots of new releases from little known blues musicians on the regional and national scene. The show begins with a young guitar prodigy, Quinn Sullivan, who blew folks away at Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival last year. Other musicians you'll hear on this show include Davell Crawford on Basin Street, Magic Slim's son Shawn Holt & the Teardrops, and Ron Sorin and the Blue Coast Band from Chicago.
Some party favorites from Denise Lasalle, Delbert McClinton, John Mayall, and Lonnie Mack. The blues show ends with a classic written by Gregg Allman and recorded at the Beacon Theatre in NY in 2003 - Whippin' Post from the Allman Brothers Band.
Yes, folks, it's that time of year for drinks, burritos, friends, family and CHRISTMAS FUN ! And behind it all will be a music machine comprised of STEVE SCHMIDT on Hammond organ, BRAD MYERS, guitar and ANTHONY T. LEE, drums.
And, adding sweet vocals on top, will be EUGENE GOSS and - for the first time at this event - DIXIE KARAS !
This soulful, swinging, ebony/ivory juggernaut will be layin' it down for 3 BIG NIGHTS this year : Thurs.,Fri. and Sat., 12/19, 20 & 21. (Thanks to the Comet for its generosity !)
Tune in at 11pm on Saturday, 12/21/13, for a Blues Christmas special. The show begins with "White Christmas" recorded by Charlie Parker on December 25th, 1948.
