We're heading down to New Orleans this week to celebrate the Mardi Gras season. The show will begin with the Marcus Roberts Trio and then continue with Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Professor Longhair, and Dr. John. Dr. John will be headlining the French Quarter Festival running April 10th through the 13th. The festival features 1400 Louisiana musicians on 21 stages during the 4-day festival, and it's all free!
Lots of favorites in this show including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Delbert McClinton and Bonnie Raitt. There's a song by Cincinnati favorite Lonnie Mack and New Orleans legend Johnny Adams. You'll also hear a song from Ry Cooder's "Chicken Skin Music" album which was a personal favorite back in the day. And, we'll round out the show with "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" by Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton.
Alligator recording artists Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials, touring in support of their latest Alligator CD, JUMP START, will perform at Legends in Cincinnati on Thursday, March 13, 2014. Mixing smoking slide guitar boogies and raw-boned Chicago shuffles with the deepest slow-burners, Lil' Ed Williams and his rip-roaring Blues Imperials -- bassist James "Pookie" Young, guitarist Mike Garrett and drummer Kelly Littleton -- deliver gloriously riotous, rollicking and intensely emotional blues.
On the Blues show, Saturday night, February 15th at 11pm, you’ll hear some legendary musicians like Albert King, Etta James, and Bob Dylan. The show begins with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and vocalist Noah Hunt who’ll be in Louisville on Tuesday, March 18th for a one-night show. There’s also a song by Anders Osborne who’s part of the Southern Soul Assembly Tour coming to the Taft Theatre downtown on Wednesday, March 19th.
