Annie Ruth talks about her Ministry of Art effort

Local artist Annie Ruth, founder of the Eye of the Artists Foundation, recently returned from a trip to Kenya – part of her Ministry of Art effort - where she worked on art projects with children in the impoverished country. She joins our Jane Durrell to talk about the trip, her foundation, and the many struggles faced by the poorest of the poor in African nations.

Dada Rafiki: Sisters of Legacy Exhibit by Annie Ruth

As part of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center’s Women Hold Up the Sky exhibit, local artist and educator Annie Ruth has curated Dada Rafiki: Sisters of Legacy, an exhibit that features 40 trailblazing Cincinnati women age 65 and older from different races, backgrounds and professions. Jane Durrell speaks with Annie Ruth about these extraordinary women and this celebration of National Women’s History Month in March.

World Choir Games mural makes it debut

Annie Ruth and local students check out the Global Canvas Quilt.

Artist Annie Ruth and CPS students unveiled the Global Canvas Quilt Tuesday afternoon at the Cincinnati Art Museum.  The mural was created by more than 500 World Choir Games participants and spectators July 4-14 using mixed media to design colorful  four-by-four-inch canvases. 


It was a collaborative project involving the Cincinnati USA Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Art Museum and Arts on the Corner, a program created by Ruth.


Ruth said she was inspired to launch the  project so the community could embrace the Games through art.
