Dress for Success Cincinnati

Dress for Success Cincinnati has launched its Professional Women’s Network, a support system for clients who have landed a job and need help transitioning into the work world. The group, which meets on Saturdays, will discuss the corporate environment, advancement, communications and other skills required to build a successful career. Dress for Success Executive Director Julie Smith-Morrow joins Mark Perzel to talk about this new effort to support women as they move from unemployment to employment.

EcOhio Program in Warren County

The Cincinnati Zoo is so much more than animals. Not only is it a leading botanical garden, but there are offsite programs to help protect and reclaim the environment. Their EcOhio sustainability program works around the Zoo in Avondale, but also at the Bowyer Farm in Warren County, where a recently completed wetland reclamation project has returned 24 acres to its natural habitat. Brian Jorg led this initiative and he’s Thane Maynard’s guest on today’s Field Notes.

Movie Review: Quartet

  It must be considered an act of serendipity when all the right people get together to make a thoroughly enjoyable movie. Such a case is Quartet. Based on a play by Oscar winning screenwriter Ronald Harwood, Quartet is set in a retirement home for musicians, located in what must be one of the loveliest spots in the English countryside. Most of the musicians are classical, many of them opera singers, and there are a couple of aged vaudevillians in there as well. It’s getting close to the annual fund raising gala which helps fund the facility. The name attraction has had to step down due to ill health, which puts a crimp in their style. But the arrival of a new resident, a grand Diva with worldwide fame, may be their hope for a record-breaking fundraiser, which is dedicated to Opera composer Giuseppe Verdi.
