Behind the scenes look at new Reds statue

The Reds will be unveiling a new statue at Great American Ball Park later this year in honor of Hall-of-Fame Second Baseman Joe Morgan.  Sculptor Tom Tsuchiya  is putting the finishing touches on it this week at his studio. 

If you've been to the ballpark, you're already familiar with Tsuchiya's work.  He created the statues of Ted Kluszewski, Frank Robinson, Ernie Lombardi, Joe Nuxhall and Johnny Bench.  He's also the artist for several statues at Xavier University, including the one of the Musketeer d'Artagnan, and the new Jesus statue at Solid Rock Church in Monroe.

Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum

With Opening Day on Monday, visitors to Great American Ball Park should also plan time to check out some of the new exhibits at the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. HOF Executive Director Rick Walls is in the studio with Mark Heyne to talk about the autograph exhibition, and the salute to Joe Morgan display that will culminate in the unveiling of the Joe Morgan statue on Crosley Terrace later this season.

Last year The Cincinnati Reds won 97 games and were the National League Central Division champions. But the team went on to give up a two-game series lead in the playoffs to lose to the Giants.
