DHL adding specialized 'life sciences' cargo route to Europe

Air cargo company DHL is adding temperature controlled air freight service between Brussels and Cincinnati.  Specialized cargo planes will carry life sciences products including pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, blood samples and vaccines.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Pakradooni says the six weekly flights are being added because of customer demand in Europe.

"Given the location in Cincinnati and its proximity for freight to be able to reach the various US cities on both coasts in within days of the freights arrival, Cincinnati is a good choice of locations," says Pakradooni.

Airport saw growth in 2013

Airport officials say they're seeing signs that things are moving in the right direction.  CVG reports the number of passengers was up about 3 percent and its cargo traffic grew about 9 percent, comparing 2013 to 2012.

Here's the statement from CVG:

Local origin and destination (O&D) passengers using Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) yielded an increase for nine out of twelve months during 2013.

Air cargo company relocating HQ to Florence, bringing 150 jobs

Northern Kentucky officials join Southern Air executives in cutting the ceremonial ribbon on their new headquarters to be located in Florence.

Air cargo carrier Southern Air is moving its global headquarters to Florence, Kentucky. The $3.5 million investment will create 150 jobs.

Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson says companies aren't picking the state solely based on tax incentives.

600 new jobs coming to Boone County

iHerb, an online provider of natural products and food supplements, has announced it will establish a regional e-commerce headquarters in Northern Kentucky. The company is based in California and plans to build a new state-of-the-art e-commerce center at IDI's Park West industrial park in Hebron.
