Judge Tracie Hunter going to trial in September

A trial date of September 8 was set this morning for Hamilton Juvenile Court judge Tracie Hunter, who faces nine criminal charges.

Hunter's lawyer and the independent council chosen to prosecute her case met for 15 minutes this morning in the chambers of Common Pleas Court Judge Norbert Nadel.

After closed-door session, Nadel announced from the bench that there would be a hearing on motions in Hunter's case on June 5t, followed by the Sept. 8 trial.

Tracie Hunter's lawyer asks for a change of venue

The lawyer for indicted juvenile court judge Tracie Hunter has asked the judge in her case for a change of venue, saying he doesn't think Hunter can get a fair trial in Hamilton County.

Hunter's lawyer, Clyde Bennett II, told WVXU that he filed a change-of-venue affidavit with Hamilton County Common Pleas Court judge Norbert Nadel. In it, Bennett says there has been so much adverse publicity in the Hunter case that he doesn't think it is probable to find jurors who haven't made up their minds.

Judge Hunter enters not guilty plea

Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge Tracie Hunter was in court Friday but standing on the other side of the bench.

Hunter entered a not guilty plea on nine felony counts including theft in office, tampering with evidence, forgery and misuse of a county credit card.

She was released on her own recognizance. Her next court date is a status report update between the judge and attorneys for both sides on March 4.

Tracie Hunter faces felony indictment

Update 2:50pm: The Ohio Supreme Court has issued an order today disqualifying Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge Tracie Hunter from acting as a judge because of the indictment. In the order signed by Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor, it says “it is further ordered that she shall remain disqualified while any and all indictments filed in the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas are pending and until further order of this court.”

Hamilton County sewer rates increasing; new counsel requested for Judge Hunter

Hamilton County Commissioners continue to take public comments on the proposed 2014 Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) budget.

MSD is asking for a $226.7 million operating budget but the county's new utility oversight director says the sewer district can get by with $210.7 million.

What both sides DO agree on, is a six percent rate increase.

MSD's Jack Rennekamp  says, "the average residential customer... will see his/her quarterly annualized bill go from from $188.15 to $199.45."
