There is a lot going on with Cincinnati’s Know Theatre – a production of Mike Bartlett’sBullis now running; another Fringe favorite, Petunia & Chicken, returns for two nights (November 10 and 11); and The Naughty List returns to Arnold’s Bar & Grill for the holidays. In addition, a change in the theatre’s leadership is beginning. Rick Pender is joined in studio by current Producing Artistic Director Eric Vosmeier and his successor, Andrew Hungerford, to discuss this big change and all the productions.
There’s a new production happening at Know Theatre, and this one is a modern-day twist on Shakespeare’s classic Macbeth. As Jim Stump learns from Producing Artistic Director Eric Vosmeier, Lauren Gunderson’s Toil and Trouble sets this tale of greed, power and murder in San Francisco as three over-educated, under-employed 30-somethings test friendships, make alliances and cross lines, all because of messages received in fortune cookies. And yes, it is a comedy.
True Theatre, much like The Moth, features everyday people writing and performing their own monologues based on that show’s theme and their life experiences. Founders Dave Levy and Jeff Groh join our Rick Pender in the studio to talk about the next True Theatre event, True Crime, happening July 29 at the Know Theatre in OTR.
