At least one of these 13 will be on Cincinnati Council

One thing is certain in this year’s Cincinnati City Council election – there will be at least one new member taking office on Dec. 1.

Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls is running for mayor; and that opens her seat to one of the 13 challengers in a field of 21 candidates, which includes all eight incumbents.

Cincy Council candidates have petition problems

At least two Cincinnati Council candidates have problems with the petitions they filed with the Hamilton County Board of Elections.

Board officials confirmed there were technical problems with petitions submitted by incumbent Council Member P.G. Sittenfeld.

Fired assistant principal runs for Cincinnati council

Mike Moroski, the former assistant principal at Purcell Marian High School who was fired this month for saying gays should be allowed to marry, announced his candidacy for Cincinnati City Council on his personal website Wednesday.

Moroski told WVXU this morning that he had originally planned to run in 2017, but his firing from Purcell Marian by the Archodiocese of Cincinnati on Feb. 9 for writing that "gay people SHOULD be allowed to marry" on his blog, hastened his time table.
