Books by the Banks, this Saturday at the Duke Energy Center, brings literature to life for all ages. Free and open to the public, you can meet local and nationally-known authors and illustrators, and purchase autographed copies of their work. Kate Lawrence, Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County Adult Services, Programming and Exhibits manager, and Michael Link, Author/Publisher coordinator for Joseph-Beth Booksellers, give us a preview.

Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Cincinnati's King Records

September brings to Cincinnati the 70th Anniversary celebration of the historic King Records. Brian Powers from the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County talks with Lee Hay about the events being scheduled during the month, both at the library and other locations around the area. (Lee Hay will rebroadcast her acclaimed 4-part King Records special each Saturday night in September on her Blues show at 11pm).

Hamilton County likes to read

No one likes to read as much as folks in Southwest Ohio. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is the busiest central library in the country for a second year in a row. That's according to a report from the Public Library Association.

Overall, the Cincinnati library is the 7th busiest public library system in the country and second busiest in Ohio behind Cuyahoga County.

The 2013 Public Library Data Service (PLDS) statistical report surveys more than 1,400 public libraries in the United States and Canada.

Library to run 10 year levy request

The Cincinnati/Hamilton County Library will ask voters to approve a 10-year levy.

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will ask voters this November to renew its operating levy for ten years rather than the typical five.

The flat, one mill renewal costs the owner of a $100,000 home about $30/year, according to Library Director Kim Fender.

Fender says the library board chose to ask for a ten year renewal for planning purposes.

Share your thoughts about the new Smale Riverfront Park's carousel

Were you aware that a brand new carousel is coming to Smale Riverfront Park in 2015? It’ll be at the base of Vine Street with additional trees and water features. Community input is now being accepted for the carousel design, and one place you can see some of the history of Cincinnati parks and attraction is the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County’s downtown branch. Mark Perzel learns more about this exciting new addition to the riverfront, and how listeners can provide input, from Steve Schuckman with the Cincinnati Parks Department and Patricia van Skaik from the library.
