As our urban population continues to grow, the desire for more green and growing space also continues to grow. On February 27, the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens will hold a Sustainable Urban Landscape Symposium featuring a panel of knowledgeable and well-respected experts discussing a wide range of ideas and solutions to maintaining the natural world in an urban setting. Scott Beuerlein from the Cincinnati Zoo will be one of those experts, and he’s in the studio with Mark Perzel to discuss the symposium.

Officials are working to update the city's sustainability plan called Green Cincinnati.  

Environmental Quality Director Larry Falkin said it's the roadmap preparing the city to be environmentally, economically and socially successful in competitions with other cities and parts of the world.  

The plan was drafted in 2007 and city council adopted it a year later.  

Now Falkin said it's time for an update.

Chelsea VandeDrink spends a few minutes with the founder of the Urban Farming organization, Taja Sevelle, who has a local focus on reutilizing rain water by capturing it in 30 barrels purchased through a grant from the Coca-Cola Company, then using that to water the community gardens Urban Farming has around Cincinnati.
